Following the successful workshop of June 15-16, 2010 in Moscow, we organize the second and last workshop of the Japanese-Russian scientific cooperation project “Ophiolites and associated rocks at the northeastern end of Asia: Petrology, geodynamics and regional geological correlations of Eastern Arctic”. The workshop is concentrated on the northern Pacific-rim ophiolites in Japan, Far East Russia, Alaska and Western North America, their relationship to the analogous ocean floor rocks in the Izu-Bonin-Mariana area, and development of ophiolite and oceanic lithosphere from the continental rift zone to the subduction zone. Topics on ophiolites, ocean floor rocks, and related rocks of other parts of the world are also welcome. Later half of the workshop incorporates a two-day field trip to the Boso Peninsula to the southeast of Tokyo to study Cenozoic subduction-accretion complexes and the Mineoka ophiolite therein. Naoto Hirano serves as the field leader. The workshop is held for summarizing the results of the joint Japanese-Russian research project and discussing future research projects, supported by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science and Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
The deadline of the abstract submission and registration is Tuesday, December 28, 2010 (extemded).
A single page abstract (title, authors, affiliations, keywords, text, and references; 12 pt font) should be written in English, and all oral and poster presentations should also be given in English. Abstract submission and registration are free of charge. Please indicate your oral/poster preference and yes/no of your participation in the field trip on registration.
