INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 25TH
ANNIVERSARY OF CNEAS.TU.

Based at Tohoku University, the Center for Northeast Asian Studies was founded in 1996 to study the trends in Northeast Asia, which consists of Asia in the former Soviet Union and East Asia. Under the framework of international cooperation, the center has been engaged in a wide range of research projects by promoting not only integration of Asian studies and Russian studies but also cross-disciplinary collaboration between humanities and sciences. Through initiatives over the past 25 years, we have developed our own unique system for area studies, hosting world-leading researchers in the fields of research on the issues involved. In this symposium, we will present some of the research results, thereby particularly demonstrating that, in addition to conventional research from a comprehensive perspective, both research delving deeper into regional issues facing Northeast Asia and research with a view to external relations matters enable a better understanding of the region, as well as discussing latest findings on each issue.
